The Valluvally Service Co-operative Bank Ltd No.E-139 was founded and registered on 30-7-1963 with the cooperation of many well wishers under the leadership of Rev. Fr.Thomas Thenayan who was the Parish Vicar of St. Antony’s Church, Kochal, with a share capital of Rs.415/- from 163 members. The adhoc committee was formed under the presidentship of Rev. Fr.Thomas Thenayan and Sri. Joseph Palathinkal was the Chief Promoter and members were Sri. Ousephkutty Vazhuvelil, Sri. Pathmanabhan Puliyamavungal, Sri. Manuvel Vazhuvelil Sri. Abraham Puthusserry and the Honorary Secretary was Sri. M V Varghese Menachery. The first member of the bank was Sri. Joseph Palathinkal. The bank started its functioning on 06-10-1963 in a rented room.

With the dedication to service spirit of sacrifice, honesty and integrity the bank reaches new heights fastly. The area of operation of the bank consists of 7 wards of Kottuvally Grama Panchayath which is the koonammavu valluvally area. The bank has a branch in Chithira junction Koonammavu.

The bank offers different types of loans to its ‘A’ Class members from Rs.30000/- on personal surety and up to 25 lakhs against property mortgage, Kudumbaree loans up to 20 lakhs, Micro group agricultural loan 3 lakhs etc. The bank also implements new and innovative schemes for improved services to its members. The Janasevana Kendram and Neethi Store working under the bank is very helpful for the people.

Since 1998 the bank has been running in profit and distributing up to 10% - 25 % dividend to its stakeholders. Maranananthara Sahaya Padhathi and three types of pension such as OLD AGE PENSION 1 to members who has completed 35 years of membership and 65 years old, OLD AGE PENSION 2 - members who has 80 years old and DISABILITY PENSION to members who are physically and mentally disabled. Every year the Bank provides a financial support to Kudumbasree Units and Bank ward Groups for supporting their functioning and activities.
